Am learnding Blender for the doing of VR stuff. Today and a bit of yesterday I have done the EARTH. This mainly teaches compositing rather than modelling but whatevz it looks coool. Textures from NASA apparently. Full tutorial in case you want to compare mine with other people's, or indeed attempt to better my effort:
