No Ado About Something
Feb. 16th, 2019 01:34 pmHello it has been a while since last typings:
1) I wrote a pilot script thingy that my beta reader was more enthusiastic about than usual so maybe it is not terrible. I missed the window for the writer's room though (tis not open all year round any more) so I have to keep an eye on the dates for next time. I confidently predict people will accuse me of ripping off things I have not read / seen. I have mentally cast Haruka Abe in the role of "the character who is basically G'Kar" and also I have cast Tuppence Middleton and Jason Watkins in it.
2) I have attempted to resume learning Japanese, I have memorised the strokes for around 160 kanji (out of around 2200 in common usage). Oddly I find it slightly easier than either Hiragana or Katakana because it is somewhat less abstract. Kanji is very pretty and if I get a 3D printer I will print out a lot of kanji characters and just stick them around places
3) VR has gone a bit quiet but hopefully Lone Echo II is out soon. Gaming generally interests me very little, like maybe that Spiderm'n game is good but it just sounds boring. I played Horizon Zero Dawn for about four hours before I couldn't stand any more. I think it's the gathering / crafting that has infested modern games that I hate most. I don't mind a collectathon but there should be some sense to what you're actually collecting. If it's "bring me five dandelions, the liver of a wild boar and two gold rings and I'll upgrade your shield!" I'm like THAT IS NOT HOW MANUFACTURING WORKS. I demand Pikmin IV, or at least SOMETHING FRESH AND NOT JUST A REMIX OF ALL THE STUFF WE'VE SEEN DOZENS OF TIMES
4) Speaking of which, television is also poor, I watched like two episodes of that Russian Doll crap, gee I wonder if pretentious, neurotic New Yorkers is something that has been done? IT HAS???? ARE YOU SURE???? Well what about having to repeat the same day again and again? THAT'S BEEN DONE TOOOOOO????????
5) Maniac is a show I watched that was quite fresh, it was a bit Dennis Pottery and a bit Brazilly. It is set in "a 1970s vision of what 2018 might be like" and has Emma Stone being great and Jonah Hill being OK and Justin Therouoguughxxx being bonkers and also her off of Ex Machina, you know the one who did the dance. These are both on the Netflix.
6) I had a massive bonfire and burned the remains of many trees that I had cut down. My fence then blew down because the trees weren't there. So currently I have aching limbs from dragging tree trunks around and I have to arrange a PERSON or PERSONS to do something to my fence. It is the world's most terrible fence, my father did it in around 2001 and he was incompetent. I am nearing the end of replacing all the shit he did badly, but there is a still the hole he cut in the garage roof and the toilet that refuses to flush properly.
7) I continue to do yoga badly. I am unable to stretch my hamstrings because to do so requires my "posterior chain" to keep my pelvis stable and it is not strong enough. So I should do like squats or something, but they are better to do with stretched hamstrings so it is a bit of a chicken and egg situation. My favourite poses are BRIDGE and maybe GARLAND and EXTENDED PUPPY and UPWARD FACING DOG. I also try to do PIGEON but it is a bit too advanced for me just yet.
