GIRLDROO, INTIAL THORTZ

Spoilers for GIRLDROO
1) Jodie was good even if most of what she was given was pretty standard fare. I like the idea of her jerry-rigging mechanical stuff like Pertwee did.
2) The Ryan guy is not a great actor.
3) Mostly this was fine but pretty uninvolving and slow and certainly not deserving of its extra fifteen mins. Modern Who is getting very slow paced, they need to go watch Remembrance and realise Who can really move like shit off a shiny shovel when it wants to.
4) The whole Grace death sequence was embarrassingly bad, and also completely pointless? I love how Chib is trying to be all politically correct by casting every non-white person with an Equity card but then the first major character to die is a black woman.
5) The roll-call of future actors at the end was a bit stupid. Like I'm supposed to know slash care who half of them are. They could have shown them actually, y'know, doing something dramatic. As it is, I'm mainly going "oooh, 'im off that thing is gonna be in it!"
6) I don't like the new version of the theme. As usual the fault is with the bass, which admittedly is better than last time but still quite bland. Is it really that hard to get right? And if so, why not just use the original?
7) I do wonder if the absurd cloak of secrecy over the content is at least partly because Chib knows he's not a great ideas man?
8) The face full of teeth was a neat idea and nicely done, and I liked the spaghetti meatball monster. The opening on the train made me wonder if Chib has been playing his Resident Evils, particularly 2 and Zero which are the main train-heavy and also tentacular ones.
9) The cliffhanger was obviously supposed to make us go OH EM GEE THEY GON' DIE but no they're not. I dislike fake cliffhangers, they are tiresome. The best cliffhangers don't have you going "HOW THEY GONNA GET OUT OF THAT" as if often believed, they instead have you going "BUT THAT MEANS.... OOOH NEXT WEEK IS GONNA BE GOOD!" The Good Place has some of the best cliffies I've ever seen precisely because they lay out the direction of the next episode and thus make you want to see it. Whereas this cliffhanger makes me go "they don't asphyxiate but instead wind up somewhere else and have a largely unrelated adventure"
10) There is a "leaked" opening credits sequence doing the rounds which people say is fake because of how weak it is, and that just makes me remember when that Harry Potter book was leaked and everyone went "Fake because it is really badly written!" and then it turned out not to be fake. However, it looks like we've another week to see with this one.
11) Gally Base is obv going to be full of virtue signalling tonight but I might go look in anyway for the lolz. TEN OUT OF TEN THE ABSOLUTE PINNNNNACLE!!!!!
12) Anyway, looking forward to more Jodie and hoping the pace picks up some.
