So further to't last post I have been thinking as to whether Orange is the New Black is my favourite television drama series of ALL TIME. In order to be a contender you need episodes of at least 45 mins each and at least two seasons of at least six episodes each. This is arbitrary but otherwise something like the '95 Pride and Prejudice would have an unfair advantage. SO I am going to work out an AVERAGE QUALITY RATING for a bunch of shows in a very non-scientific manner. THREE POINTS FOR A GREAT SEASON, TWO FOR A FINE SEASON, ONE FOR A WEAK SEASON, NO POINTS FOR A SEASON I COULDN'T FINISH

Lost!

This had six seasons, of which I think seasons 1, 2 and 4 are great, seasons 3 and 5 are fine and season 6 is kinda weak. 14 points out of a possible 18 = 78%

House!!

Seasons 1, 2 and 4 are great, I'm starting to notice a pattern here, seasons 3 and 5 are fine. I can't really recall much after that but I finished them all so I'll give them 1.5 points each. 17.5 points out of a possible 24 = 73%

The L Word!!!

Seasons 1, 4 and 5 are great, season 2 is fine, seasons 3 and 6 are weak. I am still looking forward to GENERATION Q though. 13 out of a possible 18 = 72% OOOH SO CLOSE

Orange Is The New Black!!!!!!

Seasons 1, 2, 5 and 7 are great, seasons 3, 4 and 6 are fine. No really weak seasons in my opinion, though season 4 tries my patience with its Poussey-killing antics. 18 out of a possible 21 = 86% OOH...

Doctor Who The Modern Series

This is unlikely to win due to its general rubness but we shall see. 1, 3, 5, 9 are best. 2, 4, 6, 7, 11 are fine. Season 8 I loathe apart from Flatline and the mummy one. Season 10 is just slow and boring. 24 points out of a possible 33 = 73%, huh, that is higher than I expected, perhaps I have been overly generous.

Battlestar Galactica

Tough one to rate because quality was a bit all over the place. Season 1 (plus miniseries) was consistently good, everything else fine, so 9 out of 12 = 75%

Babylon 5

I haven't been through the series for a while, but from memory 3 and 4 are great and 1, 2 and 5 are fine. 12 out of 15 = 80%

Jeremiah

Difficult with only two seasons. I love season 1, season 2 I love somewhat less so I will say 5 out of 6 = 83%.

Charmed

Another where my memories are a little rusty. I love seasons 1 and 2, think 4 and 5 are fine and 3 a bit weak. I can't remember if I ever finished S6 and certainly I didn't watch S7 or S8. So this go'n be LOOOW. 11 out of 24, ouch = 46%

Heroes

Loved season 1, season 2 was OK, season 3 turned me off and I didn't watch the recentish revival. We'll count it as 5 seasons, so 5 out of 15 = 33% woo we found something lower than Charmed rejoice!

Elementary

This hasn't had a weak season (though I admit I'm finding the current batch a bit tacked-on after the excellent end to season 6), but the procedural nature means it doesn't really have very strong runs either. I'm going to give every season a 2 with one bonus point overall for the Natalie Dormer episodes. 15 out a possible 21 = 71%

Quantum Leap

I dunno man, it's years since I watched any of this. Let us give em all 2/3 = 67%

Torchwood

Season 1 I never finished, season 2 I started but never finished. Children of Earth was mostly great and Miracle Day started off well but lost its way pretty heavily. Let's go 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 = 7 out of a possible 12 = 58%

OK SO WITH THIS ENTIRELY FAIR RANKING SYSTEM I HEREBY CROWN ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK AS PETE'S OFFICIAL FAVOURITE TELEVISION DRAMA SERIES OF ALL TIME YAAAAAAAH THE CROWD GO WIIIILD!!! Jeremiah is pushed into an honourable second place, and somehow Torchwood beat Charmed I DEMAND A RECOUNT
